NEVER SWIM ALONE

Drowning is the number one cause of death of children under five in Florida, California and Arizona. Florida has the highest incidents of drowning in the United States.  Drowning remains the second leading cause of injury related death among children ages one to fourteen.

For every child under fourteen that dies from drowning, there are five emergency visits for nonfatal drowning.   Many of those that nearly drown and survive have their lives transformed in a matter of minutes from a normal life to a life of severe disability and hardships.  This, unfortunately, is what happened to Bo, and our goal is to prevent this tragedy from happening as frequently as it does.

  • Almost 300 children under five die from accidental drowning in pools and spas in America
    every year
  • For every child that dies, another four are treated for submersion-related accidents, some of
    which cause permanent brain damage
  • Near-drownings take a tremendous financial toll on affected families and society as a whole.
  • In 2005, of all children 1 to 4 years old who died, almost 30% died from drowning
  • Fatal drowning remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for
children ages 1 to 14 yrs
  • In 2005, there were 3,582 fatal unintentional drownings in the United States. More than 25%
    were children under 14.
  • Most of these accidents are preventable!!
